Steven "Steve" Hume

Steve passed away on March 22nd, 2025 at home after a brief illness. He was 83 years old. He leaves behind his loving wife of fifty-three years, Gloria, his son Steven, and daughters Jennifer, Shannon, Debbie, eight grandchildren, sister Rebecca Frye, brother Robin Hume, plus numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandson Jackson, his niece Hannah Frye, and both of his parents, Bert and Virginia.

Steve was born May 23rd, 1941, in Weatherford, Oklahoma. Later he moved to Texas and spent 27 years as a firefighter for CCFD before retiring. He also enjoyed years spent out on the water on his own shrimp boat as well as hunting, later becoming a personal hunting guide. His latest passion was leatherworking, and he became a well-known tradesman, specializing in personalized phone cases, and even designed and developed a unique quick-draw knife holster.

Steve was well known for his sense of humor and quick wit. He loved teasing people and wore an especially mischievous grin when riling up his precious wife "Beep". A lifelong learner, Steve was always interested in everything. He was an avid reader and had a special fondness for history. Creation held a special place in his heart; he enjoyed being out in nature- traveling, camping, swimming and enjoying a wonderful array of animals. One of his favorite things to do was to watch the birds outside his window while sipping coffee.

Steve met the love of his life, Gloria, in 1969 and married later on June 5th, 1971. They went on to have three wonderful children and later numerous grandchildren. He had a deep love for his family and would often travel across the states to see them, bouncing back and forth between Washington and Alaska.

As a lover of God's word, Steve looked forward to the fulfillment of Jehovah's promise to wipe out every tear from our eyes, when death, mourning, outcry and pain will be no more. (Rev. 21:4) He eagerly looked forward to embracing his loved ones again, while enjoying perfect health and eternal life on a paradise earth.

While our hearts are saddened by this deep loss, we find comfort in the words at John 16:22 that says, "So you also, now you have grief; but I will see you again, and your hearts will rejoice, and no one will take away your joy." Until then, he will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
